Technologies at Our Dental Clinic
At Kanata Lakes Dental Centre, the technology we use helps to inform treatment planning and make your dental appointments run smoothly and efficiently.
Because we can display digital X-rays and scans on the monitors in our treatment rooms, we are able to show you dental issues in your mouth and walk you through your treatment plan.
Our goal is to provide patients with effective dental care while making sure they are fully informed about their oral health. Dental technology helps us do that.
Digital X-rays use digital sensors instead of traditional photographic X-ray film. This technology produces highly detailed computer images of the teeth and gums, as well as other oral structures and conditions, allowing your dentist to examine parts of the mouth that are not visible to the naked eye.
Panoramic X-rays allow your dentist to create a single image of your entire mouth. This image is a flat representation of the teeth, upper and lower jaws, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), and the nasal and sinus structures. Panoramic X-rays can be used when planning treatments for dentures, braces, extractions and implants.
Dental lasers (focused light beams) can be used in a variety of soft tissue procedures. We believe that lasers allow us to perform dental procedures with less pain and fewer medical interventions. At Kanata Lakes Dental Centre, our dentists use lasers to remove overgrown or decayed tissue and to reshape the gums.
Oral Cancer Screening Device
The VELscope® is an oral cancer screening device that helps your dentist to identify abnormalities and diseases in the mouth, such as cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Using fluorescence visualisation technology, screening can be performed quickly in your dentist’s office during routine exams.
CEREC Same-Day Restorations
CEREC® (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) is a system that provides our dentists with the ability to create and place ceramic dental crowns, inlays and onlays in a single appointment.
